I love winter fashion, even though it is still 65 degrees in LA it's so nice to dress up in cute winter accessories to go ice skating or out at night. :) I got so excited when they had fake snow at the tree lighting in Santa Monica, buuut I am not ready for the real thing when I go home for break... nooo kentucky you are so cold!

my father
thanksgiving 2009
My father has always supported me the most out of my family, when I was younger and wanted to model he was the one that talked my mom into letting me. He was always at every concert I had growing up and whenever I needed something he was and still is there. I love you father! See you for christmas in 2 weeks! :)

Premier Marketing Group: Merchandise/Marketing
I was nominated by my professor last quarter to be in the Premier Marketing Group at FIDM, it is such a great opportunity to be able to attend these meetings. Yesterday I had a meeting with the marketing department of BCBG where I learned about each of their brands and their career opportunities. Each day I am blessed with so much and I can't thank everyone enough for their support! My passion and motivation grows stronger each day <3

Comfort Vs. Fashion?
Winter is approaching us! It is time to put away our summer outfits and bring our winter clothes to the front of our closets, or go shopping for new trends of the season. I have came across the question comfort vs. fashion multiple times while attending FIDM and have now been in LA for Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer to observe what is in and what needs to stay in the closet. Personally, I love more than anything throwing my UGGS on and leaving but now that I have lived in LA I wear heels almost everyday. Yes, there are some clothes and shoes that meet comfort and fashion but is there a point where looking too comfortable creates the wrong effortless look? Natural make-up, natural hair, and comfortable clothes are in but in a different way than what we are used to. Michael Kors promised comfortable shoes instead of high platform heels that have been in and now we will finally see this on the runway. Here is an example of how comfort is now being used on the runway as fashionable so that ages 16-24 can enjoy this everyday wear!

Love this new look!
Ralph Lauren Inspiration |
For the fall season 2010 we just had new product sent in at work and I absolutely LOVE the fall line at H&M. It's so trendy but stays with the brand image. My favorite item this season is definitely going to have to be loose pants with heels, it has a unique and creative urban look while still looking chic. I can't wait to buy a pair! I know that sweats and heels are an absolute NO but these pants stay dressy and comfortable. (Fashionable and comfortable is definitely two things that aren't found together a lot but this is definitely a trend worth picking up.) I love the colors this season, the shiny pearl pink is my favorite of course. I have found that even though more basics (loose shirts, leggings, jeans, flats) are filling in stores, the product for trend is increasing a lot as well. More people are starting to dress with fashion- thank you innovators for making such a good impression :)

Birthdays
Today is my sister Melissa's birthday & my niece Shelbie's 2nd birthday! I woke up & skyped with Shelbie this morning, which actually made me feel better about not being home on their birthdays. Missing important days is the hardest thing about living across the country but it also makes me respect my family & love them even more!
goal setting
I love setting goals & achieving the goals I set for myself is the best feeling I have ever felt. Junior year in highschool I made the goal to move out to LA and attend FIDM, now that i'm comfortable in Los Angeles I believe it is time to make my new goals for the next few years. As I move closer to my 20th birthday, I will no longer be a teenager anymore and getting my future planned out for the next few years is important to me. Some long-term, some short-term but either way moving towards making my dreams come true is always a top priority of mine.
So here are my top 7 goals for the next few years:
1) Graduate FIDM on top (June 2011)
2) Have a top position in New York City with H&M (Fall 2011)
3) Open my website selling apparel, shoes, & accessories. (Spring 2012)
4) Start the process of opening a boutique in New York (Summer 2013)
5) Have an apartment over looking the city (Winter 2014)
6) Move my mother in with me :) (Winter 2014)
7) Meet the man I will marry & start a family (in 5-10 years)

A day at the beach with my bestfriend
Lately I have been feeling really stressed out and with Katie & myself having the day off today we went to Laguna to spend the day. It's so amazing what a difference spending the day clearing my head and laying by the ocean makes, I feel so much better now! I'm ready to focus on why i'm here, no matter who tries to get in my way- i'm making it. I'm so blessed to live in California, sooo blessed.
Bills, Bills, and more Bills.
As you know, I recently started working part-time so I have promised myself that I will save more and start paying my tuition off! I moved to LA knowing that I was going to have to be 100% independent with my tuition payments, housing payments, car payments, etc. I have found that paying off a bill at the beginning of the month instead of waiting till it's due is less stressful and makes me personally feel better about myself. My parents raised me to understand that "money doesn't grow on trees" and be responsible with how I manage my money. Last week was my first paycheck at H&M and I payed my car payment & put money towards my tuition right away- so proud of myself :) I am determined to pay off most of my first year tuition before I graduate (I can only try my hardest). I admit at first I was a little upset that my parents weren't going to help pay for my education but FIDM is NOT a cheap school and I knew that going in that my parents wouldn't be able to afford it. As I begin paying my tuition back I have realized how much I am learning from this process and how mature I am becoming from it. Everything my parents do for me has been so helpful and have made me become a better person. A lot of people at FIDM rely on their parents and even though sometimes I wish that my parents would just randomly send me money for absolutely no reason at all; I am 19 years old and live on my own and don't need mommy and daddy to give me everything anymore. I am the one building MY future and learning how to succeed today has everything to do with the way they have raised me. I am more successful today because of them. Growing up if I wanted money, I had to earn it myself by doing chores around the house. My sisters and I would always walk to the nearby gas station to get candy or icees and in order for us to have money for something as simple as that we still had to earn it. I love my parents so much for the way they brought me up, I can't wait to teach my children the same.
Love you mom & dad

well, only four more weeks to go!
This quarter is slowly coming to an end & my last quarter of this year is approaching me. I can't believe how long I have been attending FIDM, so crazy. I am going home to see my family on break and then my mom, katie, and myself are road tripping my beautiful car out to LA. I am so excited to be able to drive places out here and really see LA & not just downtown! This summer is almost over and with summer ending brings a new season, new people, and new beginnings. I love changing with the season and my goal for fall is to meet as many GOOD people in LA that I can to spend the holidays with.
Also, for fashion we have new colors & designs to pick from. My favorite fall trend that inspired me was:
With Fall 2010 shown in New Yorks fashion week, designers like Tory Burch introduced us to "Graffiti Pants." This new trend has a art modernity that consumers are obsessing about! Right, from left: Diesel Black Gold; Proenza Schouler; Tory Burch; Proenza Schouler.

Eight Months in Los Angeles
8 Months Ago: I can't believe that I have lived in LA for eight months now, it seems like yesterday I was opening my apartment door and meeting complete strangers. A lot has changed since I first moved here in January, at first people would tell me I was so nice and everyone could tell that I wasn't from LA.. I haven't heard that in a while. haha. People have came into my life but more people have left, I gave up a few things that were negative in my life and it has truly made me stronger.
Being Independent: When I said I was going to move to Los Angeles and leave everything back in Kentucky that brought me down, I meant it. Leaving behind my high school boyfriend was surprisingly the easiest thing I have done, it was the right time and the right move for me to be independent here. I have learned how to rely on myself and only myself. Now, eight months being single and I am stronger than ever. In high school I was the girl that always needed someone to be with and now I am at a place in my life where I don't even want to date until I am 100 percent comfortable with me.
Home: Most people told me before I moved that I would probably be back, but I have a home here with a true bestfriend and go to the best school in the world. It's hard to take in how much god has given me, I am so blessed and grateful. This is where I am meant to be, I feel like for the first time I am home. I miss my family every day, but being here couldn't feel better. It's weird that when I go home I feel like I am on vacation now, sorry mom haha. I am settled in with a part-time job in my third quarter at FIDM and I am completely happy. I have spent the last eight months learning who I am and making changes to make myself better. I have learned when to cut someone from my life and when to let people in. I am only 19 and know that I have a lot to learn in the future but for now I am happy with what I know and who I know.

but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”

An update on what I am up to
I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in the last week, LA is a busybusy place to live & now that I have a job part-time & classes full time.. it has been busy times ten. Where to begin... well in the last week I have been working on my trend midterm that is due monday. I had to make a source binder, rehearse a presentation, & write an essay. It has been a lot harder than I imaged, especially because this is the first time that my teacher has given me this assigment & I'm honestly not even sure she knows what she wants. (I have been having troubles with my teachers, I picked older teachers & I am pretty sure they lose their memory every 2.5 seconds. :/ oh well) With work things are going amazing, I am finally out of my training/shadowing (which seems so pointless considering I knew it when I was told day 1..did not need 3 weeks) Everyone has been extremely nice to me so I think this job is a keeper. Even though working is taking up ALL my free time that I had when all I did was school... I love it! I feel back to normal from the way I was in Kentucky- I was always known as the girl that was always at work haha. Well, besides that all I have been doing is hanging out with my roommate katie (always fun!)

Midterm week, ouch.
As midterms are approaching us at FIDM in the next week everyone is starting to feel stressed out and rushing to finish projects due to not having enough time. I recently started working more than I planned at h&m (I do love it though) so it's hard for me to get used to the work load when it's around midterms- not smart on my part. With speeches, powerpoints, projects, & merchandise math packets on top of studying for midterms.. it does make you feel like you can't do anything. My advice is to take one day, spend it with your friends & feel good for a day! Whether it is going shopping, the movies, dinner, or just spending the day at the pool- take the day for YOU! It gets you back on track & more motivated because you let go of some of the stress you had before. Thank god I have my best friend to talk to everyday, or I would be a mess!

Shopping on a budget
Before being a college student, especially being interested in fashion.. I was of course a "shopaholic". Every payday was spent on new clothes, accessories, shoes, etc. I love shopping no matter what, but with being a student in college shopping isn't easy to shop every friday anymore. That is why I look at shopping at inexpensive stores now to keep updated with the latest trends... but still have an affordable wardrobe. The transition was tough, but now after a lot of practice with keeping my eye open I have somewhat become a pro at finding new outfits! My top 3 favorite stores now being Forever 21, H&M, Urbanog.com; I can shop to give myself the feeling of awarding myself for hardwork that I have been doing each week. With that said, I recommend these three stores for shopping on a budget. Forever 21: I find myself buying a lot of their tops, dresses, and accessories. H&M: I purchase a lot of business casual merchandise, accessories, and dresses as well. Urbanog.com: I was recently introduced to this website & in the time since I know own over 15 pairs of shoes from them. They have amazing sales, and price definitely meets quality! I get compliments constantely for my wardrobe, the way I complete each outfit with accessories or my shoes. So in a way all three of these stores/websites fit in together. As a put together my outfit everyday I notice that picking three stores that you love, then finding a couple things you buy from each will make the outfit more unique!

they certainly have a strong effect on her self-confidence —
which, I believe, does make the woman."

New City, New Job
Back in Kentucky I was very close with the people that I worked with at all three of my jobs (pacsun, sears, & journeys.) Saying bye to them when I was moving out here was very hard and apart of me knows that it has taken me this long in LA to get a new retail job because I knew that it would make me miss them even more. Now, almost eight months living in LA.. I am now an employee of H&M in Century City. I am so happy to have the opportunity to grow with this company because of how well they are doing and their plans of expanding in the next couple years. I started my first day a couple of days ago & the people are so amazing & I already love them! H&M is similar to my jobs back home in a lot of ways so I carry my experience with me each day. I'm starting to get used to the format of the store, so only a couple more shifts & I know I will have it down :)

Kristin Cavallari wins trend setter of the year 2010
We know her from Laguna Beach and The Hills and practically watched her grow up into who she is today on MTV. If you didn't noticed on the last season of The Hills (that just ended a week ago), her style is very different from the style she had on Laguna Beach- when all she wore was comfortable clothes. I fell in love with her style on the last season & think she deserves trend setter of the year without a doubt. Everyone loved her personality & now her fashion! She has also recently teamed up to design her own shoe with ShoeDazzle and a portion of the profit will be donated to One Kid, One World which you can find
She looked stunning tonight & deserves the best with her future.

Today is my sisters 21st birthday!
The hardest thing about living across the country, is missing important things with my family. My nephew turned 8 monday & today my sister turns 21! It feels like yesterday we were playing barbies, mermaids, & fighting over clothes. It just reminds me how blessed I am to have a sister that I can have these memories with. Growing up my mom use to dress up the same head to toe. We were inseperable & today is going to be a hard day to miss in her life. My family means the world to me, I'm so happy that we are all so close. She also recently got engaged by her boyfriend of almost 8 years! So happy for her this month, things couldn't get any better for her. I have always looked up to her as a sister & seeing that she has two perfect babies, a wonderful future husband & just started classes at a local college.. this all makes me so proud of her!
Celebrate big sister,
I'm there in spirit.
Plus, I sent you the best gift ever :)
love you!
So far on 3rd quarter classes @fidm:
Mondays:
Effective Speaking- I am taking Miss Tubbs for this class & she is such an interesting teacher. We have class at 8:30am & she always comes in smiling with a great personality. I recommend her 100%. The class is a little boring just because you sit and listen to people tell stories that you have no interest to.. for almost three long hours.. but it's definitely going to be useful for the future!
Merchandising Trend Analysis- taking Bersin for this & she is very opinionated but has a lot of knowledge for fashion forecasting and trends. She was a little confused on clearing up the project (that are due the 5th week) but during the second class she did her research and helped inform us on her expectations.
Mondays are my longest day, coffee is definitely my best friend on this day.
Katie takes both of these classes with me, can you imagine how fun that is?
Love it!

Tuesdays:
Merchandise Math- Oh! I love this class, it's so fun and interesting (even at 8:30am!) My teacher in Mr. Chollar and he is the cutest old man ever! I took him for Tech. for Bus. Apps. & although he is a little confused on the classwork, he makes the class fun & is very reasonable with quizes & homework.
Critical Thinking- Even though I think my teacher is going to (probably) quit on us this quarter for a new job.. Holguin.. this is my third class taking him & I absolutely love him. He is very clear on the work he gives & gets the class involved in each discussion. I take this with my best friend Katie as well :)
Color & Design- Oh this class, I am taking De Mayo & she is adorable. She is very hands on & makes sure everyone is on track so there are no surprises with our grades. I feel like i'm 5 again when painting in class, but it's definitely a fun relaxing class!
___________________________________________
Thursdays:
Management Concepts- I am taking Rucker for this class and have heard so many bad things about her but am trying to not let it make me hate this class. She so far has a lot to say about managing & the material she gives us to read (surprisingly) interests me. I am involved in this class more so because I love business and will need management skills for my future. Katie & I take this class together, so even though sometimes the lectures are a little boring we seem to both enjoy each day!
Love you dolls, Rebecca

Jazz shoes, what?
In my trend analysis class all we could talk about is how Michael Kors said during a recent interview that shoes are now going back to being comfortable, which brought up the newest trend that is also shown in the latest issue of Nylon: as laceup jazz shoes. Now that I have been looking up new shoes for the summer, I see them everywhere- (Nordstrom, Chanel, even H&M carry them!) As I looked around, I saw a few girls already wearing these & couldn't help but think why? These are gross! I just hope these turn out to be a fad & disppear asap!
New Quarter at FIDM
I just had my first week in my Summer 2010 quarter at FIDM & I must say this quarter is going to be a tough one.. but as I settled my things in and finished all of my homework for the week, I took a minute to realize how blessed I am to start this summer with a new apartment in Los Angeles with my best friend. This summer will have many nights I spend with new friends or many nights where all I do is homework, but this summer will be the best yet!
Here are my classes this quarter:
Effective Speaking
Merchandise Trend Analysis
Merchandise Math
Critical Thinking
Color & Design Theory
Managagement Concepts
Wish me luck, I love you guys!

Mane 'N Tail Shampoo
Everyone has noticed the increase in advertising for Mane 'N Tail Shampoo in magazines, so I decided to give this product a shot. I purchased Mane 'N Tail with Herbal Essentials today and already feel a difference in my hair! The shampoo strenghthens & nourishes/reduces breakage which is exactly what I needed. I recommend this product 100%! Let me know if you have used it. Love you all, Rebecca Randall -Xo
Huggies® Jeans Diapers Hit the Streets!
A few weeks ago I stumbled across the cutest new trend for babies- Jean Diapers. I was working on Finals in my apartment when I was first introduced to the commercial advertising the Huggies Limited Collection of jean diapers. I have a niece and nephew still in diapers and this trend is a must have! Check out the commercial for the diapers- you'll be running to your nearest store to grab a box! Love you all, Rebecca Randall -Xo

Lets get to know each other, deal?
This is my first blog & I am so excited to be able to share my life with you all.
Where to begin...
First of all, I am a fashion student at FIDM & a true believer that a cute outfit has the power to boost any self confidence and mood. :)
I live in heels, dresses and cute pink lip stick.
I was raised by both of my parents in Kentucky, Anne and Don Randall. They raised me to have strong morals and to never give up on what I want. I wasn't spoiled growing up with money, in fact I was the youngest of 5 girls which meant my closet was always full of handed down clothes. I am an aunt of nine and look at all of my nieces and nephews as a blessings. I haven't always been close to my family, but now coming home feels amazing to spend time with all of them. I respect my parents and have always thought of them when making each and every decision in my life. I believe my parents are proud of me and I know one day living across the country will pay off.

Leaving everyone behind was a hard decision for me, but by far the best decision of my life. I have the support of my family and few friends that are still in my life from back at home; which is all I need to stay motivated. When I first moved to LA I wasn't confident about the choice I made but since moving 6 months ago I have met a best friend that will be in my life forever.
In Kentucky I worked more than any typical teenager, holding three jobs at my local mall saving up for LA. I spent the majority of my time working and sometimes forgot to spend time having fun but being busy is what motivates me.
Now that you know me, I promise I will be back soon. Love you all, Rebecca Randall -Xo
